Coach Wayne Smith, basketball trainer at Rockball in Rancho Cordova

Coach Wayne Smith

Ball handling · Speed & agility · Explosive footwork
20+ years training

Coach Wayne has spent more than 20 years developing young athletes across the Sacramento area. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, he played four years of high school basketball at Christian Academy before taking his game to Montreal, Canada, where he played four more years and sharpened the ball handling and shooting that anchor his training today.

His sessions focus on ball handling, speed, agility, and explosive footwork, along with the habits that carry over off the court: confidence, discipline, and a strong work ethic. Wayne coaches with a never quit mentality and leads by example, pushing athletes to set real goals and work past what they thought were their limits.

For Wayne, the goal is simple: help every athlete see their potential and build the character to reach it, on the court and in life.
